Online Art Show

William took an art class through our city this summer. He had his first art show as culmination of the classes. He wanted to have and "online art-show" to share this with our family and friends who couldn't be here. The remainder of this post will be him narrating. I will type things as he says them. He is excited to hear everyone's comments so here we go:

Welcome to my first ART-SHOW! The picture that is right to the side of my head is my self-portrait. Does it look the same as me a little but not all ways? I glued tissue paper around it to decorate it.

The one on black paper is my mosaic snake hiding in the grass. It has orange diamonds on it. If you look carefully, you can see dandelions in the grass too.

This is my snake. I scuplted him out of my clay. I took my time to paint him. He is painted in 3 different colors of green. This way he will camoflauge in the grass. He is half rattle snake and half normal snake. His tongue is red. He has one yellow eye and one green eye. I made him that way so he would look spooky.

This is my oil painting. It is fishies with seaweed. It was fun to paint. I accidentally used too much turpentine and I got my canvas board soaking wet. It dried ok though it took longer.

I hope you had fun at my art show!

  2. Will you have a great eye for color! I especially liked both of your snakes. Jeff says he could never draw or paint this well when he was your age...he still can't and neither can I so kudos for Mr. William the artist!

  3. WILLIAM!! I had no idea that you were such a talented artist! I loved your interpretation of the fish. I think that your mom should hang those up somewhere in your house. Your snakes are awesome and I think your self-portrait is amazing! I sure can't say which one of your pieces is my favorite...GREAT JOB. Way to go on your very first art show!

  4. William I loved your art show!!! I can't decide which one is my favorite. Your self portrait is amazing and I think the tissue paper really made it come to life. Both of the snakes looked real but especially the clay snake. You were smart to paint it the way you did so it can hide easily. The fish oil painting looks so great I felt like I was in a beautiful fish tank observing it.
Thank you so much for sharing your paintings, pictures and art!!! I pretended I was at your actual show. I wanted more than anything to be there. You are a great artist and a very special grandson!!! I love you so much! Grandma Foster

  5. WIlliam, It was so fun to see all the amazing things you created. You are a wonderful artist! I think you self portrait looks a lot like you and your mosaic is very creative. I love the orange on the snake. Your sculpture looks very realistic. That was a good idea to give him camoflage. The fish painting is so beautiful. I love the colors. I am really impressed. You are such a good artist and you are only 5 1/2. Great job William. I"m so glad you could share your art show with us on your blog. We love you!

  6. Will, I have to say I think my favorite was the snake cuz he had different colored eyes :) It made him look unique and spooky, and I loved it! You talked about all of them like a pro, it made it seem like everything was super easy to me. You must be a pro at this! Maybe next time I can be in town to see your art show. Until then I'm so glad I get to see it online :) Love ya!

  7. Seth and Daniel I just looked at your art gallery and it is very impressive! Isn't art fun? We love art at our house too! Seth and Daniel especially liked your sculptured snake. When you go to school, you will get to do art there too: pretty exciting! That was very nice of your mom to sign you up for such a fun class!

  8. Oh wow!!! William - I am so impressed by you!! The fish are my very favorites. You are very creative and clever. Thank you for not doing any birds. If there is a lesson to be learned from your art show I think it is this - you can have too much turpentine AND you can also have too many birds i.e., one or more. Wish I could have been there for your first show but glad I could see it on my computer. Big hugs!! Aunt Tanya
